Recovering

The bald Mount Cardigan became so due to a wildfire in 1855. The fire was so hot the membrane that allows life to flourish was incinerated, and the granite melted. The fire was believed to have started from a lightening strike. Life is slowly restoring to the mountaintop as bits of soil is brought back by the winds and seeds deposited eventually bloom. There is a 360° view from the top. The way up, is a steep walk over stone, roots, and you pass by running water.
